Oaklee’s new lease on life
Best Friends Forever Rescue are a volunteer-based organisation with a mission to care for dogs until they are adopted. They are a not-for-profit, no-kill rescue operation relying solely on donations, adoption fees and fundraising to help dogs in desperate need of care.
Best Friends Forever Rescue have been embraced by our Figtree Hotel members who are so proud to help our furry friends with the much-needed love, attention and support that this amazing organisation provides, and it really shows. The Community Points pledged by our Figtree Hotel community have assisted this wonderful Peer in many ways – one of them being Oaklee, the three-legged pooch.
Oaklee came into the care of the Best Friends Forever Rescue team in early 2022. She was malnourished and had a broken and fractured leg, and sadly had been in that condition for some time before getting the help she needed. After receiving treatment, her injuries were not healing, and the difficult decision was made to amputate her leg.
Despite the challenges Oaklee has faced, the team at Best Friends Forever Rescue team have said that she is now a “happy, carefree adventure seeker with a great life ahead” and have thanked the Figtree Hotel community - affectionately described as being part of “Oaklee’s Army” - for contributing to the cost of her surgery through pledging their Publinc Communities points at the pub.
