Little Wings takes to the sky with the help of Publinc Communities pledges

You might not have ever heard of Little Wings and to that CEO, Clare Pearson says “how very lucky”. Based in Western Sydney, Little Wings provides free safe flight and ground transport services for sick children in rural and regional NSW to access specialised medical services and treatments only available in major cities or towns.

With the help of our Publinc Communities family, an incredible $7,988.55 was pledged from three Hotels to help fund additional flights in December to help sick children like Saoirse.

Over Christmas, 4-year-old Saoirse and her family took a family holiday on the South Coast of NSW. Saoirse suffered an accidental fall into a fire pit resulting in significant burns to her hands and arms. Following an emergency services trip to Bega Hospital, she required ongoing treatment at the Westmead Children’s Hospital in the Paediatric Burns Unit.

With the incredible support of the Publinc Communities pledges, these additional flights she needed were covered at no cost to her family, making their difficult time a little brighter. For every $1,500 pledged, Little Wings can cover the cost of one flight for a family to access these services and treatments.

Crown Hotel Venue Manager, Simon Robinson had the opportunity to visit Little Wings and hear about the life-changing impact Little Wings has for families across NSW. Simon noted “The visit to Little Wings was incredibly humbling and hearing many of the incredible stories Clare shared really puts into perspective how much of a difference our Publinc Communities family can make by simply pledging their points and supporting their work. We look forward to continuing to support them and easing the burden for families during a difficult time.”
